Northgate Church is full of individuals who are extending Christ’s love in meaningful acts of service in neighborhoods across our city. It would be impossible to tell each and every story, but here are a few stories of how Christ’s love has been and is being extended from Northgate Church.
Serve on a once a month rotation for either our 9:30 or 11am Sunday service, presenting a warm and caring first impression to everyone as they arrive.
Serve on a once a month rotation for either our 9:30 or 11am Sunday service, escorting guests to open seats and collecting the offering.
Serve on a once a month rotation for either our 9:30 or 11am Sunday service, greet families and assist with the check-in process.
Has God gifted you with the passion and ability to help lead His people in worship through music? Consider serving on a rotational basis during both our 9:30 and 11am Sunday services.
Join this seasonal group as they lead the church in worship on Christmas and Easter. Practices are weekly leading up to each.
Serve on a once a month rotation from 8:30am - 12pm operating the sound board for both our Sunday services.
Serve on a once a month rotation from 8:30am - 12pm running Keynote on the computer for both our Sunday services.
Serve as needed photographing events and/or recording and editing videos for use in our ministries.
Join a small group of women that meet regularly to sew and quilt. Their creations have provided warmth for those in need in Pittsburgh and around the world.
Join this seasonal outreach (8 weeks in Spring and 8 weeks in Fall) as they share Jesus' love through soccer in the local neighborhood of Northview Heights.
Join this outreach group for anyone over the age of 50. They gather once a month for lunch and fellowship.
Join this group of young moms who gather on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month from 10-11am to read stories and do crafts with their young ones.
Serve on a once a month rotation for either our 9:30 or 11am Sunday service, caring for children ages birth - 2 years old.
Serve on a regular rotation of teachers and classroom assistance during either our 9:30 or 11am Sunday services, teaching and caring for children Preschool or K-6th grade.
Serve 9 months out of the year on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8pm with a team of caring adults who lead age-specific groups of children - Preschool to 6th grade - in games, lessons, and Bible memory.
Serve weekly on either Thursdays, 6:30-8:30pm or Sundays 9:30-10:30am with a team of caring adults who mentor, instruct and equip teenagers in Christ-like living.
Serve the children of our community through this week-long outreach event. There are lots of areas in which to volunteer.
Serve the families of our community through this special outreach each fall. We fill our parking lot with games, food, music, and more! There are lots of areas in which to volunteer.
Serve the outdoorsmen and women of our community through this unique outreach each spring. Hunters donate wild game. We give away lots of prizes. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer.
Every summer we send a team of people to Clay County, West Virginia to extend Christ’s love through home repair and community outreach. We repair roofs, build decks, and paint houses. We sit and talk with new friends on front porches. We host a picnic for the community and do our best to bless all those we come in contact with.
We are exploring what it looks like to partner with our friends in Haiti. It is our desire to extend Christ's love to the people of Haiti, and we look to Espwa for guidance in the process.
We support the Pittsburgh Regional International Student Ministry in Oakland. They provide lots of opportunities to extend Christ's love to international students and visiting scholars.
We support the Women's Choice Network, an organization that empowers abortion-vulnerable women to choose life. They provide life affirming pregnancy services to thousands of Pittsburgh families.
Northgate Church supports 33 missionary families in 12 different countries. Some are as far away as Indonesia, and some are as close as right here in Pittsburgh. Some are working in tribal contexts, and some are involved in inner-city work. However, all of them are are unified in their desire to extend the love of God beyond the walls of our church building.
Northgate has a rich history of serving our community. A few years ago we painted a local, single mom's home. We roofed a neighbor's home who was in need. We have offered tutoring classes for local students, and we have offered ESL classes for locals in need. We are always on the lookout for opportunities to serve our community.
