Our Vision
Northgate Church is a growing community of grace committed to exalting Christ, exploring His Word, and extending His love.
“I have been Senior Pastor at Northgate church for 16 years. I previously served as a pastor in Kansas City, KS and in Kalamazoo, MI. I received my training at Appalachian Bible College (B.A.) and Grace Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and have nearly completed the Dr. of Ministries degree at Grace Theological Seminary. My wife Debbie was instrumental in my coming into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Deb and I have three children and six grandchildren. I love the outdoors and might be considered a serious fan of WVU sports- the state of my growing up years. II Corinthians 8:9 is my life’s verse - “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” Thank you for visiting our site!”
Matt Glidden, Associate Pastor
“I grew up primarily in the Kansas City area. I committed my life to Christ at an early age and have enjoyed the journey of following Him ever since. That journey has taken me to West Virginia for my freshman year of college, Israel for my sophomore year of college, and finally I finished up my undergraduate at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, PA. It was in Lancaster that I met my wife Caroline. After graduation we married and moved to be near her family in Birmingham, AL. While in Birmingham serving at Shades Mountain Bible Church I was able to complete a Master of Religion with an Emphasis in Christian Leadership through Liberty Theological Seminary. In May of 2010 Caroline and I moved to Pittsburgh so that I could serve at Northgate Church. I continue to enjoy the journey of following Christ, and I am excited to see what adventures He has in store for me. My interests include hanging out with my gorgeous wife Caroline and our kids, traveling, exploring new places, the outdoors, music, movies, reading, writing, and playing sports.”
John Hoffman, Children’s Ministry
“I grew up in a Christian home in Cranberry Twp., Pa. I accepted Christ at the age of seven during a vacation bible school. When I was 12, I heard a presentation from the local directors of Child Evangelism Fellowship and felt called to minister to children. As a teenager, I spent many summers serving as a summer missionary with CEFR. And as an adult I served with CEF in several capacities, including as the local director. I am happy to now be serving here at my home church as the Children's Ministry Coordinator. Since I came to a faith in Jesus Christ as a child, I know how important it is to minister to the hearts of young children. My wife, Christina, and I met at church and are "youth group sweethearts." We've been married 13 years and live in Wexford with our six children; Michael, Ethan, Lindsey, Avery, Kylie and Macey. Much to my chagrin, we also share our home with a two dogs and three cats. We've been attending Northgate for 11 years. I currently hold a full time position at ASCC Inc. in Cranberry Township. and I serve here at Northgate on a part time basis.”
Candice Trent, Office Administrator
“Originally a Hoosier, I have had the opportunity to call a couple places home. I have spent the last 15 years in Pittsburgh, PA. I love the city, culture, people, food, and sports!! I could do without the potholes… I am a jack of all trades (definitely a master of none) I have held prestigious positions from Easter Bunny at the mall and singing on a boat to management in a large communications company. I enjoy working alongside the Northgate Family and find fulfillment in short terms missions- other cultures fascinate me. I have a wonderful husband, Jonathan, a son Ethan, a daughter Ava, and a bonus son! Brady. My husband is my best friend and cracks me up on a daily basis. My kids help me understand daily how Christ’s love never ceases. I love music (all kinds), I enjoy walking, and if I could get paid to people watch I probably would. Nothing is more entertaining!” Favorite Bible verse Hebrews 13:5.
Mary Tait, Administrative Assistant
“Born and raised in Harmony, PA, I was blessed to have Godly parents and faithful Sunday School teachers who shared the love of Christ with me. Just a few weeks short of my sixth birthday, I accepted Him as my Savior. High School graduation, a career, marriage and family followed. Widowed at the age of forty-eight and a single mom of three teenagers, I continued to learn more deeply of my dependence upon Him, and of His great faithfulness to me. I delight in my now adult children, their mates, and my three adorable grandchildren... Jeffrey, Samuel, and Natalie. In June of 1994 I became part of the office staff here at Northgate, serving as Administrative Assistant. It is my privilege to serve the Lord and the Northgate Church Family remembering always... ”Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as unto the Lord.” -Colossians 3:23a
